Marisa Robbins is a licensed mental health counselor with expertise in several areas, including depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, stress management, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, chronic mental illness, grief and loss, adoption, adolescent issues, and DBT. Marisa has specialized in the treatment of adolescents with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and has worked extensively in outpatient, residential, and hospital settings with both adolescents and adults. Marisa holds a master's degree in Clinical Psychology as well as a certification in Traumatic Stress Studies. Marisa is experienced in individual, group, and family therapy with adolescents and adults. Methods of treatment are primarily cognitive-behavioral in nature, meaning they are based on the idea that changing thought patterns will cause changes in feelings and behavior. Marisa helps the individual to identify thought patterns that are not beneficial and shift them to become more positive and rational, which leads to an increase in positive emotions.
