Dr. Phansalkar is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology (ABPN) & Diplomate of American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM). He is the Medical Director of New England Counseling Center. After his psychiatry training at Cork University in Ireland, he completed his residency training in Psychiatry from Louisiana State University (LSU) at Shreveport. He was the Chief Resident at LSU and has participated in a variety of research trials involving psychiatric medications. While in Louisiana he volunteered as provider in mental health for Hurricane Katrina victims and their families, working for the Red Cross. He moved on to become a Clinical instructor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School from 2008-2012. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association & Massachusetts Psychiatric Society. He is routinely involved in the evaluation of emotional and psychiatric issues & disorders. In addition he specializes in areas of Psychopharmacology, complicated medication regimens & treatment of treatment resistant cases of disorders such as Depression & Anxiety. Yet, he believes and often quotes "the less medications, the better"
